I initially started with Shopify, as recommended by my IT team, but I'm glad I switched to the Magento community version. It requires a larger initial investment, but the money I spend is mine to keep as I only pay for a module once, not on a monthly subscription. I have complete control over my data and can change hosting as needed. My accountant tells me a Magento site has a higher resale value. The learning curve with Magento is steeper, but its power, extensive features, and flexibility outweigh any negatives. I researched all the major e-commerce platforms before deciding on Magento, which consistently ranked highest. Everything is customizable and if a feature isn't available in the settings, there's a module for it or I can hire a developer to create a custom one. Scalability is not an issue with this platform, which is crucial for future growth. Unlike other platforms like Shopify and Woocommerce, Magento has a more professional look and is a more robust system. It's also less expensive.

Unless you have a dedicated Magento developer, I'd recommend avoiding this. You could end up overpaying for your site's development or have difficulty communicating with an overseas company. Most renowned e-commerce platforms are simpler to use and provide affordable, proficient assistance based in the US. However, the platform's graphic display and manipulation capabilities are unmatched. My partners and I, who are competent HTML programmers, bought the Magento 2.0 platform for our e-commerce site. We selected Magento due to its robust template and user-friendly backend admin. We intended to employ a developer to establish our site's basic structure, then manage the content writing and insertion ourselves. However, this wasn't the case.
