I started using Slack because my client required it. I found it reduced my dependence on email, but I often felt frustrated when trying to compose a message without standard elements like tables and inline images. I appreciate being able to stay connected with users through any device I use, whether it's my home computer, tablet, work computer, or phone. I especially like getting notified of a new message on my phone, where I can read the message and then switch to my laptop to reply. I also value the feature that lets me add an email thread to a Slack Channel by simply CC'ing a unique Slack email address associated with each channel. However, my main issue with Slack is the extremely limited formatting options for messages. I can make a font bold and add links to files/images, but I miss the rich text features that many similar apps offer. It's also annoying to have to keep typing the user name(s) when responding to a message. I wish there were more options.

I think Slack is the best collaboration tool of our generation because it's easy to navigate and offers a positive user experience. Its competitive pricing shows great potential. Slack offers several integrations, including Outlook and Zoom, among other essential plugins. As a messaging app, it works perfectly with a simple, precise interface. The search feature is excellent, allowing me to find specific messages in long threads easily. Sharing files is also straightforward, and the IRC style allows for separate conversation threads in team discussions. However, I find it inconvenient to have to return to the initial chat to send a message when screen-sharing with another team or individual. The limit on the number of users in a video conference is also problematic for large organizations like mine. I switched to Slack because the previous tool lacked reliable notification alerts for meetings.
