Efficient Digital Document Storage with eFileCabinet
Overall, I consider eFileCabinet to be an excellent solution for our small business. It securely houses all of our company's documents and enables us to share information with all our employees, while also providing the option to limit certain access. It's a cost-effective solution for us. I particularly appreciate the ability to drag and drop documents or attachments from emails into eFileCabinet, as well as the option to print documents directly into it. However, I wish it was easier to select and email certain documents directly from eFileCabinet. We opted for eFileCabinet because it best met our needs and was a great economical solution for our small business. The vendor responded positively to our review in September 2021, showing their support for our business and appreciation for our feedback.

eFileCabinet: Falling Short of Our Business Objectives
My experience with eFileCabinet was disappointing. The software didn't meet our goals and the customer support was poor. They were initially helpful with a minor technical issue, but when it came to understanding the software's capabilities and requesting a feature, the experience was terrible. They tried to confuse us and eventually admitted that eFile couldn't meet our needs. The software's retention feature was problematic, allowing users with edit permissions to change document retention. The main issue was the overly broad EDIT permission from VOEDA. I suggest better communication with clients. If eFile can't meet a client's needs, they should just say so and not leave the client confused and waiting. The software is easy to install and use, but it didn't meet our business needs. We needed a software that allowed us to assign security permissions to users, but eFile's predefined ones were not enough. We needed users to be able to download and edit.

Quality Software, But Overpriced
I once had many clients using efilecabinet, but now only two remain and they won't be renewing their subscriptions due to the high cost of the service. The software does offer good searchability and security features, protecting data from potential viruses. However, there are bugs that may or may not be resolved during updates, and the reasons for this are unclear. I originally chose efilecabinet because it was a one-time purchase with yearly maintenance. I appreciated the vendor's response to my review in June 2020.

Superb Solution for a Paperless Transition
I've had a positive experience with the tech support staff at eFile Cabinet. As a CPA, timely tech support is essential and if a product isn't supported promptly, it's useless. I find eFile Cabinet user-friendly and it offers secure storage for client data. I wanted my data management system to be separate from my tax software in case I ever wanted to switch companies. I also needed a company that would support their product and be around in the future. However, after buying a license with annual support, I was compelled to switch to an annual renewal, similar to Microsoft and Adobe's monthly/annual subscriptions. I don't mind the annual subscription though. I switched to Revver because I tried eries and their DMS wasn't as good or robust. I had a negative experience with Ultra Tax File Cabinet when I left Thompson and wanted something independent of my tax software. I previously used a great DMS product called Arkworks, but they went out of business.
